Star Wars: The Clone Wars: Revival review

Okay, so before I start this review I'd like to point out two things- I watched this at Celebration VI and I haven't watched it to refresh my memory since it hasn't been uploaded to StarWars.com yet.

Getting to watch this episode at Celebration VI was amazing!! :D :D We watched Brothers and Revenge first but sadly there were worse than I remembered them being(as I said in a previous post). However, this episode was it's saving grace- it. was. AWESOME!!!!! :D :D At first I didn't think I was going to like it, but I was wrong. It definitely got an emotional response from me since I ended up yelling twice- first because I was mad, second because something so epic had happened.

The episode starts up shortly after where last season left off. Darth Maul and Savage are on the run and hurting people where ever they go. Obi-Wan Kenobi, along with Adi Gallia, are searching for the two freaks and end up meeting with a certain person Obi-Wan would rather not know- Hondo.

The Bad: Normally I start with the good in these reviews but since I love the good parts in this episode, I just wanted to get my grievances out of the way so I can focus on our awesome Jedi. ;D
So here is my main grievance- it has already been established that GRIEVOUS killed Adi Gallia. So it was yet again another disregard for canon(sighs). However, I don't approve of the whole Darth Maul coming back thing so since I don't consider that canon, I will just say that that part wasn't canon either and just enjoy the awesome stuff. Though I will say, while watching the episode, when that happened at CVI, I yelled "That isn't right, Grievous killed her!!!!!"(I wonder if Dave heard me, hmmm) and my friends sitting with me were going "What?! This isn't right!" But the awesomeness of what happened next calmed my anger. :D
Another thing that wasn't so great was the beginning when Savage and Maul were running around- that part was sort of boring as was when they got the help from some of Hondo's men.

The Good: So since the episode has aired I can finally say- AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH OBI-WAN CUT SAVAGE'S ARM OFF!!!!!!!!!!!! THIS is the fight were were denied last season- THIS is my Obi-Wan!! :D :D I was worried during the fight that something bad would happen to Obi-Wan but thankfully my fears were uncalled for and the awesome Jedi we love from the movies and the books slammed onto the screen and totally kicked those two's behinds! XD When Obi-Wan cut Savage's arm off for a brief second I was in shock, wondering if I'd seen correctly and then hit me that it had, in fact, happened and I yelled "OH YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" The lightsaber battle between those three was so great- definitely my favorite lightsaber duel on The Clone Wars. Obi-Wan did wonderfully with two lightsabers- I was really looking forward to seeing Obi-Wan use Jar'Kai and he did it perfectly!
Besides the above awesomeness, the episode had plenty of other good moments. Hondo's interactions with Obi-Wan, his men, and the two Zabracks were so, so funny. He had several laugh out lines like - "We're pirates!!! We don't even know what that means!", "And leave you in there with the crazies? Okay."(I loved how Obi-Wan told them to block the interest and escape- he's selfless even when it comes to people like them), and "Who are these horny-headed maniacs?" :D I also loved how the two Zabracks were RUNNING away from Obi-Wan and as they were, Hondo and his pirates started shooting and took off one of Maul's leg and the two were pathetically hobbling to their ship(haha XD). As weird as it seems, I love how Obi-Wan and Hondo interact and I hope to see more of it- they're hilarious! XD.
The ending scene with Obi-Wan, Anakin(loved the look they exchanged, by the way), Yoda, Mace, and Palpatine was also pretty good, though I wish Obi-Wan and Anakin could have spoken.

Overall, I loved the episode. While I hated the lack of respect for canon, I loved how awesome Obi-Wan was so instead of making a big deal of it, I'll just say I don't consider it canon, like I do with Maul's return, Satine, and Taria(cause they aren't), and just enjoy the good parts of the episode. This Obi-Wan fan is happy, that's for sure :D Just remember, Grievous killed Adi Gallia, not Savage ;p
Hope you enjoyed the review and May the Force be with you....Always :D

  1. Yes! AGREE. I'm glad there's another person who thought Adi's death isn't right.

  2. Thanks for the link! :D Awesome review! When Obi-Wan started using two Lightsabers and then cut Savage's arm off, I was thinking "Wow, didn't think they could do that on the show!" Definitely one of my favorite Obi-Wan moments from the Clone Wars. :)

    1. You're welcome :D. Thank you very much!! :D I was shocked as well, it was so surprising, especially since children are a large portion of the audience. And I agree, definitely one of my favorite Obi-Wan moments from TCW :D

  3. Shena, I completely agree with your review, and your stand on handling the continuity issues. Let's just ignore them, shall we? Oh, I could hear some of the Obsession fans raging out there.

You know, I yelled "YES! GOOD JOB, OBI!" out loud when Obi-Wan cut Randy's (Savage) arm. That scene saved the episode for me XD.
My review will come up pretty soon.

    1. Thank you, I'm glad you agree; they're aren't that many of us so we must stick together :). I did too, that part was so awesome!!! :D It definitely made the episode for me :D.

    2. I've never read the comics XD, but I know what it feels like for the hardcore fans. I felt the same when TCW retconned Piell's death. His original death scene in Jedi Twilight was a lot better.
      Thanks! It's up already. :)

    3. I've never read the comics either(though I plan to sometime). I agree, I know how that feels- it stinks. Yeah, I agre, Even Piell's original death scene in Jedi Twilight was a lot better.
      You're welcome :) I reviewed and added a link to it :D
