Star Wars Challenge Day 4

Well, today's topic is "Your Favorite Jedi"

My favorite Jedi is Obi-Wan Kenobi(because he's the ultimate Jedi), but since I already discussed him in a previous post(For my all time favorite character) I'll tell you about some of my other favorite Jedi.

The first person of whom I wish to speak is Siri Tachi. After Obi-Wan, she is my second favorite character; she's brave, she's headstrong, she's impulsive, she gets angry easily and she seemed sort of like me :). I first came across Siri when I read Secrets of the Jedi. I immediately took a liking for her and for awhile she was my favorite character. Since then I have read the Jedi Apprentice series and the Jedi Quest series and have gotten to read more about her. I find her a really enjoyable character and I wish she could be more explored in other novels(maybe one of the adult Star Wars books starring her, Obi-Wan, Anakin during the Clone Wars). My liking of her character and the relationship she has with Obi-Wan is one of the reasons I detest Satine(from TCW) and Taria(from the Clone Wars Gambit duo); she was there first and her relationship is the ONLY one where I can actually sense something between them; with the other two freaks(who I say don't exist) there is nothing there at all. One thing I wish was that she could make an appearance in the Clone Wars t.v series(I'd like to see the second half of Secrets of the Jedi made into an episode arc) where her and Obi-Wan's relationship is touched upon.

The second person I wish to speak of will be the great Jedi Master, Qui-Gon Jinn. Master to Obi-Wan Kenobi, he was the man who found The Chosen One on Tatooine, setting many things in motion for the galaxy.
When I first watched The Phantom Menace, I really liked his character; my sister and I were SO angry when he was killed that when Obi-Wan was fighting Maul we were shouting for Maul's defeat. Even though he was only in one film, he made an impression and not only on the viewers but the characters themselves. Obi-Wan always feels like he'll never amount to his old Master, and its Qui-Gon who ends up passing on the secret of immortality. I got to know Qui-Gon more through the awesome Jedi Apprentice series and my liking for him grew. He was a wise, calm Jedi Master, but he was also very human which made him even more compelling. I know that if I had read the Jedi Apprentice series before watching The Phantom Menace I would have cried at his death. I also love his relationship with Obi-Wan; it was really sweet and the father-son part of it was amazing.

Anakin Skywalker; The Chosen One. Some love him, some hate him- me I fall more towards the latter category. I'll admit, when I first saw Attack of the Clones I found him extremely annoying(though I really liked him The Phantom Menace) but after several years, he began to grow on me and I began to feel for him, especially after watching Revenge of the Sith. Reading the EU helped me like him even more. Then, last year, I read the Revenge of the Sith novelization and he was bumped into my favorites lists. The book made me understand him COMPLETELY; you understood why he fell, his heart, his soul, his fears- by the end of the book I knew him as much as you can know him. His story is one of tragedy; you see him start out as a sweet, little boy to a egoistic, arrogant, emotional teenager, to a conflicted, fearful young man. Though many things influenced his fall I will say it was a mixture of Palpatine's seduction and, of course, Anakin's choice to turn. For me, once Anakin turns into Darth Vader, it is hard to decide what I feel towards him; I feel sorry for him that his life has come to this but then I also will hold him accountable for the atrocities he committed in Operation Knightfall(slaughtering children is NEVER right). But once he is redeemed and joins the Force alongside his best friend, I feel a great happiness- the Jedi has returned. :)

  1. Oh gosh, I've never thought about what it would be like to read Jedi Apprentice and then finding out that Qui-Gon dies. I only really liked him after reading JA and...that would be soooo sad.

But anyway! I like all the pictures - the Kit Fisto one always makes me smile. :)

  3. I love your blog. Well written. :D I have to agree with you on Anakin. A man can only take so much before he breaks. I like alot of Jedi too. I already read all of the Jedi Aprentice, Jedi Quest, Last of the Jedi, Secrets of the Jedi, and Legacy of the Jedi books in addition to other star wars books such as clone wars series (medstar and so on), Outbound flight, and movie novelizations (Really liked ROTS!) on the Internet. I really like Star Wars- especially Jedi. Siri was also one of my favorites. After all, I'm a girl. Unfortunately, she could never be on the TV programs because she died before the clone wars television shows- when Anakin was still a padawan :( Thx for the blog and the pictures! The make me smile too :D
