Top Ten Favorite Book Covers

I've decided to do the top ten challenge from the blog "The Broke and the Bookish" http://brokeandbookish.blogspot.com/p/top-ten-tuesday-other-features.html#
So, I thought I'd go through their list and do the different challenges, the first being "Favorite Covers"

Just so you know- if I post a cover, it doesn't mean I like the book of the title(or have even read it); it just means that I thought the book had a cool cover. (If you look, you'll see that I love book covers with people on them )

1: Secrets of the Jedi - I love how it has four of my favorite characters on the front cover(I love how they made Siri Tachi look*she looks like Dianna Agron*), and I love the planet and space on the front and back of the novel- it's beautiful and spacey. :) Definitely a beautiful cover for an amazing story :D :)

2: Jedi Apprentice: The Followers - Even with the weird image of the Sith scientist, I love the crossed lightsabers and the images of Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan and Obi-Wan and Anakin reflecting each other.

3: Jedi Quest: The School of Fear(Japan); Japanese covers for the Star Wars books(and other works) are usually very cool looking, and sometimes I even prefer them. I absolutely love this cover- without it, we wouldn't have gotten a good idea of what Siri looked like when she was older or such a good image of Ferus Olin.

4: Leviathan(Japanese) - While I like the American covers, this Japanese cover is simply stunning- I love how they drew both Deryn and Alek and the ship and water behind the two figures frames them nicely.

5: A Million Sun - I wasn't a big fan of the first books(I liked the plot but the two leads were bleh) and I have yet to read the second(cover below) or the third one, though I probably will since the last one sounds interesting. This cover is WAY better than the last one; while that one was gross with people about to kiss(yuck!), this one is so pretty! I love the galaxy and stars surrounding the two figures who appear, due to the transparent walls around them, to be standing among-st the stars-space.

6: Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring - I think it's pretty obvious why I like this one. It's got a fantasy, peaceful feeling to it with its pretty river, the cliffs rising up around it, and a small glimpse of buildings nearby. Perfectly sets up the peacefulness of the beginning and what they hope to preserve by defeating Sauron.

7: Young Jedi Knights: The Lost Ones - While the Young Jedi Knight series, like the Jedi Apprentice and Jedi Quest books, always has really great covers, I especially like this one. It's got a good picture of Jaina Solo and Tenel Ka looks like such an awesome warrior on the cover. I also like the purple cover scheme :)

8: The Land of the Silver Apples - I loved the cover of all three books in this trilogy, but this one was my favorite. I love the Nothern Lights glowing down from the starry sky and the symbol right above the red-robed boy's head. It really shows the book's story off.

9: Junior Jedi Knights: Promises - Another easy one; it has Tahiri attacking a Krayt dragon to save her friend, Anakin Solo. I love seeing the girl rescue the guy in stories so seeing this on the cover is really exciting :D.

10: Wicked Kiss(YUCK for the title) - Even though I haven't read this book and I don't like the title at all, the cover art is very beautiful and caught my eye very quickly- I love the color scheme as well as the girl on the front cover, she looks very cool.

What are your favorite book covers?

  1. cool book covers! I've only read the Fellowship of the Ring though :/

My favorite book covers would have to be To Kill a Mockingbird, Scary Stories to Read in the Dark, Twilight (yes, Twilight, I like one page out of the whole series and that page is the cover!), Watchmen, Under the Overpass, Death Note, and Flags of our Fathers :)

    1. Thank you! :D Cool choices! I agree, the Twilight books do have really cool looking book covers; too bad the stories are no good.

  2. Nice book covers! That YJK one made me laugh. Is that blond girl Tahiri, by the way?

My favorite book cover is definitely The Last Jedi, although the book itself might not be my favorite (50 pages in + tidbits of the ending, and I am severely disappointed). I also like MedStar I's cover, and outside Star Wars, I like Ulysses Moore's covers.
If comic book covers count, then my favorites are Knight Errant: Escape covers (all of them), most of KE: Aflame (Deluge's covers weren't so good), Republic: 65-66, and Legacy II: Prisoner of the Floating World Part 1 (both regular and special covers).

    2. I agree, the cover is great! XD Tahiri saves the day! :D

I'm sorry your disappointed :( I agree, it is a really cool cover :D. I also liked MedStar I's cover, I loved seeing Barriss with her hair down.
      Cool cover choices! :D

    3. I want more girl-saves-the-day novels in the SWU. No, I - we NEED more of those stories XD! *the feminist side of me is screaming*

Yeah, Jax looks nice, yet I still wish the title was 'Jedi Dawn' plus Laranth on the cover, back-to-back with Jax. With the correct clothing, of course ;).
I agree. Barriss looks really pretty without her hood. :)
      Thanks! XD

    4. ME TOO!! Though, I have to admit, the EU has some of the best and awesome-nest girl characters ever :D But of course, we always need more.

I think Laranch on the front cover would be awesome :D
      Definitely! :D
      You're welcome :)

    5. What I really want is another female lead, especially a non-human one. Kerra is awesome, but she's not enough. Ania Solo will be the lead in Legacy V2, which is coming out in a few weeks. Oh and, she's not a Jedi or an Imperial Knight, so it's refreshing! Princess - uh, Empress Marasiah Fel returns in the new series, too.

The Dark Times era lacks female leads. All of the leads are males (Jax, Dass, Jahan, K'Kruhk). If they could somehow make her a lead character in a new series (along with Jax, only with him as a secondary lead instead of the opposite), I'd be very, very happy.
      Something like, 'Jedi Nights'.
Okay... now I'm starting to get fanfic-y ideas... XD

    6. You're right, those eras does lack female leads. I think that would be a great idea! Glad Ania is going to be the lead in the next issue. That would be a cool idea! :D
      Fanfiction! :D

  5. Can't think of any great covers at the moment, but I agree FOTR's cover looks fantastic! Heir to the Empire and The Last Command's covers where cool, but particularly fantastic. But Thrawn on Heir to the Empire looks so cool. :)
