Violence Against Women Act Passed
(I have another post from today below, just so you know).
Breaking News: The Violence Against Women Act was reautharized and passed today with new provisions to protect women of the LGBT community, Native American women, immigrant women, and Campus students. So glad this was passed! :D As a girl, I think this is a very, very, VERY important thing to have in place. Though I cannot believe anyone would vote against it(almost every S/R in my state voted against it :P :P). It's even more horrifying that other women voted against it O_O
But, it passed, so yay! :D :D :D :D :D Sucess and Progress! :D
Also, I love you Vice President Biden for drafting this back in 1994 :D
This is a really funny video! XD
Top Ten Favorite Book Covers
I've decided to do the top ten challenge from the blog "The Broke and the Bookish" http://brokeandbookish.blogspot.com/p/top-ten-tuesday-other-features.html#
So, I thought I'd go through their list and do the different challenges, the first being "Favorite Covers"
Just so you know- if I post a cover, it doesn't mean I like the book of the title(or have even read it); it just means that I thought the book had a cool cover. (If you look, you'll see that I love book covers with people on them )
1: Secrets of the Jedi - I love how it has four of my favorite characters on the front cover(I love how they made Siri Tachi look*she looks like Dianna Agron*), and I love the planet and space on the front and back of the novel- it's beautiful and spacey. :) Definitely a beautiful cover for an amazing story :D :)
2: Jedi Apprentice: The Followers - Even with the weird image of the Sith scientist, I love the crossed lightsabers and the images of Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan and Obi-Wan and Anakin reflecting each other.
3: Jedi Quest: The School of Fear(Japan); Japanese covers for the Star Wars books(and other works) are usually very cool looking, and sometimes I even prefer them. I absolutely love this cover- without it, we wouldn't have gotten a good idea of what Siri looked like when she was older or such a good image of Ferus Olin.
4: Leviathan(Japanese) - While I like the American covers, this Japanese cover is simply stunning- I love how they drew both Deryn and Alek and the ship and water behind the two figures frames them nicely.
5: A Million Sun - I wasn't a big fan of the first books(I liked the plot but the two leads were bleh) and I have yet to read the second(cover below) or the third one, though I probably will since the last one sounds interesting. This cover is WAY better than the last one; while that one was gross with people about to kiss(yuck!), this one is so pretty! I love the galaxy and stars surrounding the two figures who appear, due to the transparent walls around them, to be standing among-st the stars-space.
6: Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring - I think it's pretty obvious why I like this one. It's got a fantasy, peaceful feeling to it with its pretty river, the cliffs rising up around it, and a small glimpse of buildings nearby. Perfectly sets up the peacefulness of the beginning and what they hope to preserve by defeating Sauron.
7: Young Jedi Knights: The Lost Ones - While the Young Jedi Knight series, like the Jedi Apprentice and Jedi Quest books, always has really great covers, I especially like this one. It's got a good picture of Jaina Solo and Tenel Ka looks like such an awesome warrior on the cover. I also like the purple cover scheme :)
8: The Land of the Silver Apples - I loved the cover of all three books in this trilogy, but this one was my favorite. I love the Nothern Lights glowing down from the starry sky and the symbol right above the red-robed boy's head. It really shows the book's story off.
9: Junior Jedi Knights: Promises - Another easy one; it has Tahiri attacking a Krayt dragon to save her friend, Anakin Solo. I love seeing the girl rescue the guy in stories so seeing this on the cover is really exciting :D.
10: Wicked Kiss(YUCK for the title) - Even though I haven't read this book and I don't like the title at all, the cover art is very beautiful and caught my eye very quickly- I love the color scheme as well as the girl on the front cover, she looks very cool.

Very Inspiring Blogger Award from Covert Knight
Thank you to Covert Knight for the award! :D Sorry I didn't get to it sooner
1. Display the award logo on your blog.
2. Link back to the person who nominated you.
3. State 7 things about yourself.
4. Nominate 15 bloggers for this award and link to them.
5. Notify those bloggers of the nomination and the award’s requirements.
Seven Things
1: I finished Firefly a while back and I watched the ending-film "Serenity" last night and it was awesome!! :D The show and movie are a definite must see for Science Fiction fans- it's wonderfully done, the science fiction stuff is so cool, and the main characters are really well developed and acted. Though I would recommend being a little older since there are a few inappropriate scenes (more so in the TV show, but it isn't so-so bad) and the 'monsters' and what they do is really creepy(and one scene in the movie might be found disturbing by younger viewers.)
But anyway, if you like Star Wars or any other kind of science fiction, GO WATCH IT! :D
2: I currently have two edits for my book series that a Forum friend made for me. They're really cool looking and I love how they were done(if you want to see them, they're on my Facebook). I can't wait to have more edits for my book series(and the movies for them) :D
3: I'm normally attracted to guys older than me.
4: I've fought against the three black belts at my Dojo quite a few times and I think I'm getting better at fighting (of course, they can still beat me since they are VERY good). I did get kicked a lot XD. Though, when I was fighting a red belt, I was able to block his kicks really well and he had really hard kicks and is older and taller than I am, so yay! :D
5: I consider myself a tall person and if people say otherwise...well, you were warned >:D
6: Besides my Science Fiction book series, I have other works in mind, including more books taking place in my Sci-Fi universe(past and future), more science fiction books, fantasy books, contemporary novels, and even a dystopia(which I came up with before the Dystopia craze).
7: Since I have allergies to Corn/Gluten(wheat)/Dairy/sugar(including honey), I'm glad to have found good foods without these(sugar is pretty much impossible to avoid, but it's the one I worry the least about since, in small quantities, the effects are just about nil). Like, I've gotten gluten free chocolate chip cookies(which I think are even better than the real thing), gluten free pancakes, gluten free Snicker Doodle cookes(SO GOOD!), gluten free brownies, gluten free cake, sugar free icing, dairy free ice cream(there is this really good stuff at the local health food store), and plenty of other foods. I recently made Oatmeal cookies, apple cake, and Angel Food cake with flour mixes and food mixes.
Have a good day :)

Movies/TV shows I want to be in
Since I'm trying out for several plays and I'm already doing one for sure(by the way, practice was really fun today! :D), and since I've been watching a lot of shows, I've recently been thinking about what films/TV shows I'd love to do someday; so I thought I'd compile a list :)
My top choice for a role is, of course, the main character in my book series. She is definitely my dream role (complex, dark, complicated, and nice girl who can totally kick butt) and from my ideas of actors, director, music composers, writers, and costume designers, I hope it would turn out great! :D I'm trying to decide whether to make it a movie series of a television series.
I make a pretty cool warrior girl! :D
It is a dream of mine to be in a Star Wars movie and while I'm still a little skeptical, the fact that they are making new films, this gives me the chance to actually get into an actual Star Wars film!! :D :D I'd die of happiness if I got to be a Jedi :D :D :D Maybe I could be a Jedi Padawan in the New Jedi Order or something like that (and I want a cool actor to play my Master! :D) Of course, I'd play any role, but a Jedi would be the epitome of the experience.
One of my favorite TV shows(and one of the few still on TV) and definitely something I'd love to get on. The show has been doing really well and is most definitely scheduled for a third season. And since I love the acting and writing talent on the show, getting to be on this show would be such an amazing experience. I'd love to get a larger role but even a smaller, one episode role would be an honor enough. I was thinking the other day I'd like to play a younger Belle(but I don't look enough like Emilie) or someone somehow related to Rumplestiltskin/Belle (maybe they're kid...though I'm probably too old).
As a lot of you Marvel fans know, Joss Whedon is going to be directing a TV series surrounding the S.H.I.E.L.D which we see in several of the Avenger related films(and the Marvel comics). I would love to get on this show since, number 1: I love Joss Whedon's work and it would be an honor to act under him and number 2: I want to be in something related to Marvel! :D I'm not entirely sure what role I could do, but a recurring character or a one episode character would be great. It would be cool if I could have super powers! :D
I would really love to be on this show! :D I love how epic and science fiction-y it is and getting to pretend to fly around through time and space would be awesome. I'd love to be a Companion of course(if I was the main one, like Rose, then I could be the first American companion which would be really neat *apparently there was one from Australia*) :D But if it was even just a one time role, like Sally Sparrow, I'd still love to do it(of course, I'd hope for something cool).
Even though the show is done, Joss Whedon has expressed a great deal of interest of returning to this show, especially recently. If he did, I would love to try and get cast in it(since Sci-Fi! :D). My ideal role would be Simon and Kailey's daughter(since Simon is my favorite character) and I could be one of the fighters :) Of course, I'd settle for anything :) :)
Other shows I'd love to be involved in somehow would be - Sherlock, something Middle Earth related, a superhero film(where I could be a superhero), and any other science fiction/fantasy show that looks good.
Oh, and I'd love to be on Downton Abbey- I haven't seen it yet, but my Mom's a really big fan and she said she'd like to see me be an American cousin of the family or something like that :D.
I also have a really good plan for a TV series which I hope you will like :)
Any other show ideas? What do you think? :)
May the Force be with you! :D

Updates and New Posting Ideas
Sorry for being a little AWOL lately- I have quite a few things going on currently
1: I've already been cast in the play "The Man Who Came to Dinner" which I mentioned awhile back and I'll soon be auditioning for several other plays (The Sound of Music, Kiss Me Kate, Parade, and Annie). I also have one more audition for this one thing I'm trying out for O_O
2: School and ACT preparation. O_O. Pretty nervous about all of that
3: Driver's Ed. I'll be starting that soon and hopefully get my permit pretty soon.
4: piano recital song needs to be memorized (I'm playing 'In Dreams' from the Lord of the Rings)
5: Writing and editing books
Not to mention Taekwondo and singing practice, Finance class(and the homework that comes with it :P), and memorizing lines.
Oh, and I'm nearly done with the TV show "Firefly" :D . I'm really loving it so far- Simon's my favorite character, though I love all the characters :)
However, I did find some fun things I can do on a blog called "The Broke and the Bookish". It's basically where you answer different questions and giving a list of ten for each one. I thought I'd do these every so often since it seemed fun :)
What do you all think? In addition to this, I'll try and finish my fanfiction for my readers (Solace and Covert Knight and anyone else who is enjoying it), write reviews, do posts on what's going on with me, and do updates on my book. :)
Do you have any ideas on what you'd like to see?
Shena :)

Answer to Shine On Award questions from Misty, Voronda, and Arda
Misty from The Mistiness of the Future and Voronda from A Believer's Journey gave me this award so I'll answer their questions
Misty's Questions
1: What is your favorite anime?: I've seen for anime films then TV shows so, for movies I really love - Spirited Away, Tales from Earthsea, Princess Mononoke, Children Who Chase Lost Voices, and The Secret World of Arietty. I've only seen one anime TV series all the way through and that is Fruits Basket which I really enjoyed. I also hope to start Tsubasa, Romeo x Juliet, Sailor Moon, Black Butler, Ouran High, Princess Tutu, and so on.
2: Do you like to draw at all? No. I'm not too great at it and I have a thing where I don't like doing things I'm not very good at.
3: Can you write fanfiction? Or have you read a really good one? If so, what is the title and fandom? YES! I've written several fanfictions, all of them revolving around Star Wars :D.

Voronda's Questions
1. If there was a Zombie Apocolypse what would you do? (My brother and I have just gotten into the Walking Dead! It's awesome!) Get with a group of people who know what they are doing, scope out the zombies habits, find weapons, and begin to search for a cure or massive, destructive weapon.
2. What was your favorite thing you received for Christmas? (Since I was internetless during the holiday season) The Jedi Apprentice books(I now own the entire series), the other Star Wars books I got, Les Miserables(book and soundtrack), The Hobbit, and this one palsy-printed, red turtleneck.
3. If you could do anything this summer what would it be? All expenses paid and everthing? Go visit all my online friends, visit Europe, go to Hollywood or Vancouver to get cast on something, and go to Comic-Con! :D
4. Do you like video games? If so what are they? ( I love em!) I do. As I said above, I'm not a hard core gamer, but I do like them. My favorite are Star Wars ones, LOTR ones, Harry Potter ones, Little Big Planet, and Infamous.
5. What would you rather do?
Be an Assassin in the:
-Crusades in the Holy Land
-Renisiensse Italy
-Revolutionary War USA?
You can have the assassin from the proper time period in the game to help you! :)
During the crusades in the Holy Land- less dangerous weapons and less security. That would make my job easier. Also, disguising myself as a boy would be easier.
I also thought Arda's questions looked like fun, so I thought I'd do them as well :)
1. What are your favorite boy and girl names?
Favorite girl names - Siri, Jaina, Lyra, Tahiri, Hermione, Belle, Eowyn, Abigail, Lydia, Deryn, Lucy, Amy, Saturn, Rose, Artemis, Lila, Lina, Andromeda, and Natalie.
Favorite boy names - Anakin, Luke, Baelfire, Joshua, Cameron, Michael, Drew, Alek, Jacen, Artemis, Aidan, Ewan, Liam, David, James, and Collin 2. What was your favorite book or TV show when you were little? My favorite books when I was little where - The Chronicles of Narnia, Running Out of Time, Magic Tree House series, Junie B. Jones series, Pinky and Rex series, and Harry Potter series. Favorite TV shows were - Winnie the Pooh, Barney(what else was on PPC kids then?) Arthur, Dragon Tails, Clifford, Sesame Street, and the rest of the shows on in the late 90s and early 2000s. I also loved the Land Before Time films.
3. How do you like to relax? Write, read, get on Tumblr/Facebook/Blogger, watch YouTube videos, watch my current TV shows, and the like.
4. Do you prefer straight plays or musicals? I love both equally and enjoy ones from both, though I know more musicals since I have mostly done musical theater my whole life. (musicals- Wicked, Les Miserables, Godspell, Suessical, Annie, Into the Woods; plays - The Crucibles, and All My Sons). I'd love to do some more just straight plays since I want that experience(And I want to do Arthur Miller) and I want to do a more serious role.
5. Would you rather travel forward in time or backward? Forward. That way, it would be more like Star Wars/Sci-Fi and, as a girl, I would be treated like with equality unlike the past.
6. Do you have a favorite quote or motto? I really like the quote - "A Fall from Such A Height is Rarely Straight Downwards." by Victor Hugo currently.
3. How do you like to relax? Write, read, get on Tumblr/Facebook/Blogger, watch YouTube videos, watch my current TV shows, and the like.

Happy Valentine's Day and Favorite Pairings
Happy Valentine's Day everyone!!! :D :D
Unlike a lot of people, I've always liked Valentine's Day- my family and I have fun traditions we do and it's enjoyable :). Even though I'm older, I don't do the whole 'Forever Alone' thing since I know that I will eventually get married. One thing I don't get it why teens/young adults say that- I can understand if your like forty, but if your young you've got your whole life ahead of you. Oh well :)
So, I've thought of doing this for awhile, but I'm going to do a list of my favorite pairings/Ships :) They come from books/movies/TV shows mainly and most are canon but some aren't(I think there are only a couple like that, however; I'll let you know). :) :) And I'll try not to make the post too long :)
Obi-Wan Kenobi and Siri Tachi from Star Wars(Secrets of the Jedi, Jedi Apprentice, Jedi Quest). My top favorite pairing ever and the first one I actually liked :D. How could I not include it?
I really enjoy the two of them- they fit each other perfectly and their interactions are really funny. The chemistry between them is awesome and I wish there were more books with the two of them. :D It's also the only Obi-Wan-related relationship that I consider canon. I love both of them as characters which is also important since in a lot of fiction, its common to only one character interesting and the other is just the bland love interest. So, major props to Jude Watson for bringing both a character from the films and one of her own creation to such vibrant life :D.
I also love that Obi-Wan was paired with a Jedi; I can see Anakin liking someone who wasn't one since, having been raised outside the Temple, it would make sense. However, for someone like Obi-Wan, I'd only see him paired with a fellow Jedi since they would relate so much better. Plus, Siri is an awesome fighter and can take care of herself and I'm glad they had Obi-Wan like someone who he wouldn't have to worry about(too much, since everyone worries about the person they like) because he knew she was just as good as he was and could take care of herself.
The pairing is a sad one, but nonetheless, it's perfect.
Belle and Rumplestiltskin from Once Upon A Time.
This one is awesome as well!! :D It's really good and unexpected and so amazing they got me to love it after one episode(and it's gotten even better). This show also does a great job making you like both characters. Rumplestiltskin is definitely the most complex on the show and while a villain, to an extent, Belle brings out the goodness in him and he's been gradually been getting better :). Belle isn't just a prop in the story either which I love- she is brave, resourceful, very smart(she found the invisible boat at the docks, rescued Archie, got the shawl back, and pawned Hook twice in a single episode), and a very kind person who isn't afraid to call Rumplestiltskin out when he's acting mean(she's one of the few that actually can do that). This pairing has been awesome so far this season and it is only going to get better.
The actors(Robert Carlyle and Emilie de Ravin) are amazing in their own right but they were perfectly together and have some of the best acting chemistry I've ever seen. I definitely want to work with the two of them someday :)
A scene from episode 4 of season 2(episode 14 is coming up Sunday and it looks epic!:D )
Qui-Gon Jinn and Tahl from Star Wars (Jedi Apprentice and Legacy of the Jedi).
Another one of my favorite pairings! It's also a very good one(by Jude Watson as well) as well as a sad one; the two are great characters and while we don't get to see too much of them, their chemistry is very well done and makes you wish you could see more of them. :)
Rose Tyler and the Doctor(9 and 10) from Doctor Who.
This was such an amazing ship! I liked it immediately when I started season 1 of the show and its one of my top favorites still! :) It works well, isn't sappy, and the actors have awesome acting chemistry :D. It was one of the million reasons why I loved the show, and I wish we could have seen more of both their characters. I loved how both were great characters and that you cared about them a whole lot over the course of the series. It was sad, but it ended up well(for Rose anyway) in the end of season 4.
It was also pretty funny at times and I enjoyed how it wasn't the annoying insta-love that is prevalent in too many shows nowadays. Good writing right there! :)
Sherlock Holmes and John Watson in BBC's Sherlock.
While not entirely canon, as of yet, I can definitely see it becoming so(especially from some things the actors and creators have said). It seems very unlikely, but its awesome and hilarious! XD I love the jokes about them throughout the series(had me laughing a lot). Like my sister said in her post, John was the first person Sherlock showed concern for and I think that's pretty telling. I can't wait to see more of these two in the upcoming season :)
In my book series, there is an awesome ship involving my main character. I won't reveal anything about it just yet(since it doesn't really come up until the second season, though you might see some of the hints I sprinkled in the first series), I just want to say, even I, the writer, ship it! XD. I hope you all end up liking it as much as I do. It won't be annoying, I can promise you that :)
(after this are ships I really like, not my OTPs).
Anakin Solo and Tahiri Veila from Star Wars(Junior Jedi Knights series and New Jedi Order series).
I've really liked the two together since the first Junior Jedi Knights book. They really compliment each other well and I wish it had a happier ending (I was so mad with what the did to Anakin). :(
Darra Thel-Tanis and Ferus Olin from Star Wars(Jedi Quest)
While not exactly canon, I can definitely see it happening between the two characters and I really like the idea of it. :) There are some hints in the Jedi Quest series and I wish it could have been obviously canon
Prince Aleksandar(Alek) of Hohenberg and Midshipman Deryn(Dylan's her fake name) Sharp from the Leviathan Trilogy.
The shipping is really funny and well done and I absolutely love both characters. They are both fabulously written and both are really cool (Deryn saves Alek a lot... XD). I really enjoyed reading about their adventures on the Leviathan and other places around the world and I wish there were more books!
Tallisibith Enderwung-Esterhazy(Scout) and Whie Maleraux from Star Wars(Yoda: Dark Rendezvous)
While there isn't too much of it, I really enjoyed it and their characters.
Jaina Solo and Zekk from Star Wars (Young Jedi Knights series)
Sadly, Jaina doesn't end up with Zekk(she gets married to Jag, who I don't like :P) but I really like the ship and it was perfect in the YJK series. I only wish it had been carried into the other books.
Tenel Ka Chume Ta' Djo and Jacen Solo from Star Wars(Young Jedi Knights)
While I don't particularly like what happened to these characters in the later books, I really enjoyed these two in the Young Jedi Knights series. They were hilarious and Tenel Ka's stoic, humorless demeanor was great against Jacen's humorous one. :)
Mara Jade and Luke Skywalker from Star Wars
While I haven't really read anything with them(except for the New Jedi Order books I read where she was pregnant or sick), I really like what I've heard. And Mara Jade sounds like such an awesome character! :D
Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley from Harry Potter
Besides Siri and Obi-Wan, Ron and Hermione are probably one of my oldest ships. I remember while reading the books and watching the films, I always knew they'd end up together and having arguments with kids in my Sunday School about who Hermione was going to end up(some kids agreed with me and some thought she'd end up with Harry). I really like the both of them since they are great characters and good friends throughout the series :)
From Harry Potter, I also like Lily/Snape
Captain America and Iron Man(The Avengers) in a Fanfiction sense
While I do like Peggy/Steve and Tony/Pepper, I also like these two. Before I watched any of the Avenger films, I saw a giff on Tumblr and (Like I did with Johnlock) I randomly decided to ship them.
Katara and Zuko from Avatar: The Last Airbender
While I was watching the show, I preferred Katara/Aang(which is below) but after my Mom said something to me after she watched it(and after I re-watched some episodes), I found myself really liking the ship.
Katara and Aang from Avatar: The Last Airbender
While I slightly like Katara/Zuko, I still really like Katara and Aang and ship if canonically and I enjoyed seeing it grow on the show.
Sokka and Toph from Avatar: The Last Airbender
Same as with Zutara, I didn't initially ship these two, but after finishing the show, I started to like the pairing and wish it were canon. :)
Sokka and Suki from Avatar: The Last Airbender
While I slightly prefer Tokka, I still really enjoyed Sokka and Suki and I shipped it while watching the show and I still ship it canonically :)
Lin Bei Fong and Tenzin from Avatar: The Legend of Korra
While they aren't 'together' on the show, I really wish they were. :)
Captain Jack and Ianto from Torchwood
Even though I haven't started Torchwood yet, I've already decided to ship the two of them :) From what I've read on the Doctor Who wiki and Tumblr, it is definitely one I believe I will like.
Bastila Shan and Revan
I've loved what I read on Wookiepedia and from the book Revan and I definitely ship it. I can't wait to eventually play the game. It seems like a really good ship! :)
Willow and Oz from Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Probably the best ship on the show. I really enjoyed the two of them and Oz was a really awesome guy! :) It was really funny, both were great characters, and the end of it was really well done but sad.
Willow and Tara from Buffy the Vampire Slayer
While I didn't like it too much at first(since I preferred her with Oz and it seemed weird that they just decided to make her lesbian- I think they should have had her be Bi since it would have made more sense), I ended up really liking it, especially in the fifth and sixth seasons. :)
In Buffy I also liked Buffy/Angel
For Covert Knight's challenge, here is a picture that represents my favorite pairing. See if you can figure it out :)
:)
