How many books read in 2022:
Techinically 101, but one of the books is a edited draft of one of my sister's fantasy books, but it is not yet published, so I couldn't add it to goodreads. On goodreads, it will show 100.
How many fiction and non fiction?:
Most were fiction, but I read four non-fiction. Want to try and read a bit more next year.
Male/Female author ratio?:
I read more female authors this year (I read several books by the same authors, but I only counted each author once).
Favorite book of 2022?:
Leviathan Falls by James S.A. Corey - the perfect ending to an amazing series and I'm so glad I gave this series I shot, I love it so much!
The Last Command by Timothy Zahn - finally finished the Thrawn trilogy and I loved it! The final showdown at the end of this book was just pure awesomeness. Made me LOVE Mara Jade a lot.
Cytonic by Brandon Sanderson - I loved this continuation and Spensa continues to be a favorite character of mine! Also loved M-Bot's character development.
The Galaxy and the Ground Within by Becky Chambers - A moving, encouraging book where people try to be the best and work through their issues.

Least favorite?:
The Dragon Republic by R.F. Kuang
The Maid by Nita Prose
The Enchanted April by Elizabeth von Armin
Darling Girl by Liz Michalski
and I had mixed feelings on both The Little Paris Bookshop by Nina George and The Wicked Day by Mary Stewart.
A Touch of Darkness by Scarlett St. Clair was pretty goofy, but I had fun reading it and discussing it with my book club people (lots of laughing and a good time), so I can't really say it's a least favorite, even though I gave it two stars.
Newest?:
It looks like it was "I'm Glad My Mom Died" by Jennette McCurdy, as it came out August of this year. Some others were Kaikeyi by Vaishnavi Patel, The Sins of Our Fathers by James S.A. Corey, and The Maid by Nita Prose.
Longest and shortest book titles?:
Tristan Strong Punches a Hole in the Sky by Kwame Mbalia and The Mysterious Benedict Society and the Riddle of Ages by Trenton Lee Stewart for longest title
Shortest titles would be, I believe, Cytonic by Brandon Sanderson and Warcross by Marie Lu
Longest and shortest books?:
Longest is Words of Radiance by Brandon Sanderson at 1087 pages
Shortest is Hard Currency (Star Wars comic) by Randy Stradley that was 4 pages long
How many books from the library?:
I'd say 70 percent (this is a guess) were from the library. I did read some books I own, but not as many as I was wanting to :( That will be a goal for next year.

The Girl from the Other Side by Nagabe from Japanese (read two volumes)

Most read author?:

close to home for me, in how they relate to current things in out world.
Which books are you annoyed you didn't read?:
The Kyrtos Trap and the rest of the X-Wing series :( I wish I had read a bit more Star Wars EU books. I read some but not quite as much as I'd hoped. Gonna remedy that in 2023!
I also wish I had gotten my re-read of The Fellowship of the Ring finished :(
OwlCrate books like A Lesson in Vengeance (I have started this one), Sweet Bitter Magic, The Ones We're Meant to Find, etc.

What books are you planning to read in 2023?
SO MANYYYY
I do want to finish both A Lesson in Vengeance by Victoria Lee and Assassin's Apprentice by Robin Hobb, since I've started them but didn't manage to finish them before the end of 2022. I also want to re-read The Fellowship of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien
I definitely want to continue my Star Wars EU/Legends read through and I want to make more progress in 2023! So I want to read: continue the X-Wing series and maybe try to finish it (I'll be starting with The Kyrtos Trap, since I've read the first two), read Dark Apprentice and Champions of the Force to finish the Jedi Academy trilogy (as I read book 1 in 2022), I Jedi, Callista trilogy, The Crystal Star, The Black Fleet crisis trilogy, The New Rebellion, Corellian trilogy, The Hand of Thrawn duology, Scourge, Survivor's Quest, re-read the Young Jedi Knights and Junior Jedi Knights series and I would like to at least get to Vector Prime (for New Jedi Order). I also want to read for comics: Rebellion, At War with the Empire, The Old Republic, and any others I can find.

Propaganda. All of it. Propaganda to keep me chasing after the approval of others on my bound and broken feet, as if being a good servant is the only thing I should be proud of.” - Iron Widow by Xiran Jay Zhao
“I swear, people cannot make up their minds about who are supposed to be the clueless infants who can’t live without supervision: men or women.” - Iron Widow by Xiran Jay Zhao
“You have always been the worst of my children,” he said. “Be sure to not dishonor me.”
“I have a better idea. I will do as I please, and when you count your children, leave me out.” Circe by Madeline Miller
Great post!! Glad you read so many books that you enjoyed this year! I liked the first quote, and the one about justice and mercy. Sense and Sensibility is on my list as well - maybe we'll both end up reading it this year! Here's to another year of reading many cool books :D
ReplyDeleteThank you! :) Same, I always appreciate reading some good stuff! :) Glad you liked both quotes! I feel like James S.A. Corey does a good job with inspiring quotes about humanity without going overboard (they also managed to write religious characters who were good people and realistic, which I appreciated). Yess, hopefully we can both read it! :) Let me know what you think when you get to it! Yes, another year of reading good books! :)
