Top Ten Tuesday: Top 10 Female Characters (10 for kick-ass ones and 10 for strong, but not physically, ones).

So this is a weekly posting for various topics in fiction; this week, everyone was doing different things, so I picked my favorite of the ones others were doing and here it is- my top favorite female characters(this one person did one for ones that are strong, but not kick-ass). Since I can, I decided to do my favorite of both. :) (I meant to post this yesterday, but I wasn't able to get around to it).

So, first off, I'm going to do my favorite strong, kick-ass female characters.

1: Siri Tachi

Well, she's obviously a Jedi and they are always badass(well, expect for a certain Etain, who is ANNOYING). She was in the same classes as Obi-Wan(even though she was two years younger), and was an excellent, all around, Jedi. She became a Master, trained a Padawan, and was the best Jedi she could be. She was loyal, yet never a sheep, and has been a role model and someone I have related to ever since I read about her. :)

2: Jaina Solo

She's a Jedi, a mechanic, the daughter of Han and Leia, and the Sword of the Jedi. What else needs to be said?

3: All female Jedi and Sith (Tahiri Veila, Tenel Ka, Satele Shan, Nomi Sunrider, Vima Sunrider, Meetra Surick, Bastila Shan, Luminara Unduli, Shaak Ti, Barriss Offee, Aayla Secura, Darra Thel-Tanis, Adi Gallia, Stass Allie, Darth Zannah, Tahl, Mara Jade, etc)

All female Jedi and Sith in Star Wars are amazing, kick-ass women/girls(except Etain). It was one of the many reasons I loved Star Wars growing up- the abundance of female Jedi for me to read about.

4: Eowyn and Tauriel (Middle Earth Women)

5: Hermione Granger

6: Buffy Summers and Willow Rosenberg (and pretty much all Buffyverse girls)

7: Attack on Titan girls (Sasha, Annie, Mikasa, Christa, Ymir, Petra, etc) I'd add Hange, but they are non-binary, so I decided against it since they don't identify as female(or male).

8: Doctor Who women (Rose, Martha, Donna)

9: River Tam

10: Black Widow

11:(bonus) ATLA girls (Katara, Toph, Suki, Mai, Azula, and Ty-Lee)

Honorable Mentions: Mulan, Padme Amidala, Leia Organa, Annabeth Chase(PJ and HoO), Katniss Everdeen, Luna Lovegood, Ginny Weasley, Zoe(Firefly), Arthuria(Fate/Zero), Holo(Spice and Wolf), Melinda May(Agents of SHIELD), Faith Lehane(Buffy/Angel), Juliet(from Romeo X Juliet), Princess Mononoke, many of the girls in Studio Ghibli films, Marian(Robin Hood BBC), Djaq(Robin Hood), etc

Strong, but not-kick-ass, female characters

1: Belle(OUAT)

2: Cordelia Chase

3: Tara MaClay

4: Women of Downton Abbey (Anna, Mary, Edith, Sybil, Mrs. Hughes, Violet Crawley, Isobel Crawley)

5: Toshiko Sato

6: Skye and Jemma Simmons(Agents of SHIELD)

7: Melinda Sordino

8: Winifred(Fred) Burkle

9: Makoto Konno

10: Mon Mothma

Honorable Mentions: Julia(Star-Crossed), Sophia(Star-Crossed), Eponine, Cosette, Fantine, many girls in Studio Ghibli films, Asuna(Children Who Chase Lost Voices), Belle(Beauty and the Beast), etc

  1. Nice list! :) The female Jedi are awesome. :D

    1. Thank you!! :D They definitely are!! :D

  2. Yep, Jedi women are awesome. Kerra Holt is my favorite so far. Don't forget the non-Jedi Star Wars ladies, though! ^_^
I think the more appropriate phrase is non-physically kickass. We kick butts in our own ways, don't we? ;)
Oh man, I really need to catch up on SnK and Agents of SHIELD...

    1. I agree!! :D Of course not- I love the likes of Padme, Leia, Cerasi, Astri, etc! :D That's a good phrase to use! Thanks for recommending it.
Yes you do!! Such awesome shows! :D

  3. Cool picks around! I was actually working on a similar list about the most Bada** female characters not that long ago. I didn't get much past the general rankings, but maybe I can finish it soon. :)

I think you definitely need to watch the Alien movies, particularly the sequel Aliens, because I think you will really like Ripley as a character.

I watched the first episode of Attack on Titan!!!!! :D And it was amazing! Even though I have only seen a small amount of Sasha, I already like the character and can't wait to see more of her. By the way, I sent you a Facebook message with a link to the dubbed first episode and my review for the first episode will be coming later this week. :)

All of the Jedi, River, Doctor Companions, and, of course, Black Widow are all awesome picks! :)

Also, cool picks for the other list. :) Now that AOS has gotten even better, I am liking both Skye and Jemma Simmons a lot more as well. :)

I am sure that I would like Burkle if I ever get around to watching Angel, because I like Amy Acker a lot. :)

Great pick with Makoto Konno as well! I really liked her character in the movie.

On a side note about Studio Ghibli movies, I agree, they do a great job at starring interesting female protagonists.

I have a lot of characters that I like from anime especially like Saber from Fate/Zero, Shiki from Kara no Kyōkai, and Revy from Black Lagoon just to name a few. Also Holo! I love Holo! :D

    1. Thank you! :D Cool, I'll be looking forward to seeing your list when you finish it! :)

Great! I definitely want to watch those movies, they sound really good! I love a good sci-fi story with a good female character.

AWESOME!!!!! :D So glad you liked the first episode! It gets so good the farther you go in the story! I hope you continue to enjoy the series! Yes, Sasha is a great character(she's one of my top three favorites). Thanks for sending the English dub! I'll have to re-watch it this summer after school! :) YAY! I'll be looking forward to reading your review! :) :D

      Thank you! :D I agree, they're amazing!

Thanks! I agree, I have really liked where their characters are going and they are definitely getting more interesting. :)

You would definitely like her, she's a great character and she gives a marvelous performance! :)

Thanks! I agree, she was a very well-rounded and developed character.

They definitely do :) I always like their girl characters :)

Great choices! :D I like the ones I know, and the others sound like good characters! :) And yes, Saber and Holo are both awesome! :D

  4. I love love love this post! Representation of girls in media is such an important thing, and you handled it very well. I especially like the way you didn't try to place Hange into the the "girl" category- but at the same time, they are very important representation too. Hmm, maybe I need to compile a list of nonbinary characters in TV and films- if I can find any :/

I myself identify as nonbinary and when people say Hange is a girl (I've sadly seen this before) I do get annoyed since that's misgendering. I'm mostly on tumblr right now thanks to my rp blog and I've got a personal blog over there, I might do a post on that personal blog, since there are nonbinary people following me who might find that've inspired me :)
Great job with this post, as always!

    1. Thank you very much!! :D I agree, representation of girls in the media is very important! Thank you- I try to do that, since misgendering someone is never a good thing to do to a person(I know I wouldn't like it if it were me). That would be a good idea- though it might be hard to find :/ Hange is the only one I've come across.
Thanks for letting me know :) I agree, I don't like seeing that either, since they don't identify as either. Great, glad to help! :)
Can you send me your tumblrs? I'd like to follow them :)
      Thanks again! :)

    2. I'll give you my tumblrs right here, if that's okay! My personal is while my rp blog is ! I'll definitely follow back :)

    3. Great, thanks! :) Followed both of them! :)
